Celebrity Mermaid Tattoos

Mermaid tattoos have been a popular choice among celebrities for decades. These mythical creatures, half human and half fish, have captivated audiences with their beauty and allure. In this article, we'll take a closer look at some of the most famous mermaid tattoos that have been sported by celebrities. From pop stars to movie stars, these celebrities have made a splash with their mermaid tattoos, and we're excited to dive in and learn more about them.

Mermaid tattoos can come in a variety of styles and designs, and are often depicted with long flowing hair, a fish tail, and a beautiful, alluring expression. Mermaid tattoos can symbolize a variety of things, including femininity, mystery, and the ocean.

With thousands of celebrities being seen on tv, surely some of them have a mermaid tattoo.

Well, I did the digging and found as many celebrities with mermaid tattoos as I could.

  1. Harry Styles

Harry Styles is an English singer, songwriter and actor, He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction, formed in 2010 on the British singing competition series "The X Factor." He released his debut solo album, "Harry Styles," in 2017, and has since released two more albums. He has also acted in several films, including "Dunkirk" and "My Policeman".

It's no secret that Harry Styles adorns many a tattoo, several of which are ocean related. He has an anchor tattoo and a ship tattoo. But in November 2014 he added a sexy mermaid tattoo to the collection!

When he was asked about the meaning behind the mermaid tattoo, he succinctly proclaimed "Because I am a mermaid." And we love that for him.

2. Adam Levine

Adam Levine is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He is the lead vocalist for the pop rock band Maroon 5, which he co-founded in 1994. The band has released several successful albums, including "Songs About Jane," "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," "Hands All Over," "Overexposed," "V," "Red Pill Blues" and "Jordi" . He also has a successful solo career, releasing his debut album "Begin Again" in 2013. He is also known for being a coach on the American singing competition series "The Voice" and for his appearances in TV shows, such as "American Horror Story: Asylum" and "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping". He is also an active Philanthropist and in 2013, he founded the Adam Levine Foundation, a non-profit organization which aims to "empower and enrich the lives of children through education and the arts."

He is inked all over his body, with over 30 tattoos. I think he just might be a fan of tattoos.

In 2016, his mermaid tattoo was completed. This large back tattoo depicts a mermaid with wings holding a skull. The background shows the ocean, a cloudy sky with the sun shining down, and a ship off in the distance. The tattoo is framed by an intricate border with swirls and what looks to be a boat steering wheel and a flower at the bottom.

Having gotten this mermaid tattoo done over the course of six months, surely it has some significance. The internet demands answers! One theory is that mermaids can represent seduction, and Levine is known for taking off his shirt and showing his toned torso along with sexually charged songs, such as "Moves like Jagger."

He also performed live at a Victoria's Secret fashion show, which featured mermaid inspired costumes for the models who walked the runway.

3. Lena Dunham

Lena Dunham is an American actress, writer, director, and producer. She is best known for creating, writing, and starring in the HBO television series Girls, for which she won two Golden Globe Awards. She is also known for her work as a director, producer, and writer for the series Tiny Furniture and Camping.

Lena, who has at least 24 tattoos, has an adorable mermaid cherub tattoo on her right hip.

Lena's mermaid tattoo includes two Cupie dolls with mermaid tails who appear to be gathering water from a bucket of tears. This is an interesting tattoo, whose meaning is ambiguous.

The apparent drinking of tears could perhaps be a nod to the phrase "drinking male tears" which is often said by other staunch feminists who oppose the sexism often perpetrated by misogynists. This would make the most sense because Lena Dunham is on the forefront of the women's rights movement.

4. Christina Ricci

You may know her from her iconic role as Wednesday Addams. Ricci portrayed Wednesday in both The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993) when she was ten years old. She also starred in the 2022 show Wednesday as professor Thornhill.

Ricci doesn't have very many visible tattoos, but on her ankle she does have a small mermaid tattoo!

The mermaid tattoo she has is one of 8 tattoos. Fans have speculated that the design is a reference to her 1990 film "Mermaids," which she starred in with Winona Ryder and Cher. This has not been confirmed by Ricci.

These are all the celebrity mermaid tattoos I have to show for now! Hope you enjoyed this article!
